Where your money goes
Some of what you pay me goes back into small business.
Small businesses are where most of the work in this country comes from, and they are who I build websites for. So a share of every job I am paid for builds a website for one that cannot afford it yet — free, and with nothing on it to say so.
Why I do this
Think about who actually takes somebody on. The two-man plumbing outfit that needs a third. The woman baking in her kitchen who needs help by Friday. The guy with a bakkie and a ladder who trains an apprentice.
Those are the businesses I build websites for. So the money I earn comes out of small business, and some of it goes back in: a website for one that is doing the work and cannot afford to be found yet.
That is the whole reason. It is not a discount and it is not a campaign. More small businesses doing well means more work going around, and it is also where my next job comes from.
More small businesses working means more work going around.
How it works
Work comes in, and a share of what it pays for goes towards the next free website. When there is enough, I build one.
If you have already paid me for a website, you have done your part. There is nothing else to do.
What you get
The One-Pager, exactly as I sell it.
- A one-page website, built the same way as one somebody paid R4,950 for.
- Your words written for you, from a conversation.
- Your Google Business Profile set up, so people find you on Google and on maps.
- Two rounds of changes.
- Your first year online, covered.
- Half an hour with me at the end, so you can make small changes yourself.
You pay for your web address, about R150 to R250 a year, registered in your name. A logo is not included.
Who it is for
This is for you if
- You are already trading. Not a plan, not a side idea — you are doing the work and taking the money now.
- You are small. One person, or a handful.
- Money is the reason you do not have a proper website yet.
- You are in South Africa.
- You can get me what I need: your prices, your photos, your story. The website is free. The half hour it takes you is not.
This is not for you if
- You have a website that works and you would like a better one. That is a job, and I would be glad to quote it.
- The business has not started yet. Come back when it has.
- You can afford to pay for one. Then buy one — that is what pays for these.
Having a website now does not count against you. A free page on somebody else’s service, or a site built years ago that you cannot afford to put right, is exactly the situation this is for.
What happens after a year
After twelve months it becomes the Care Plan at R450 a month, the same as everybody else, which also covers changes and backups. If that is affordable by then, good — that is the idea.
If it is not, the website is still yours. I hand over the files and whatever your next host needs, and there is nothing to cancel.
And if you ever get to the point of needing a bigger website, come back. That is what pays for the next one.
Nothing on it says it was free
Nothing on your website will say it was free. No line in the footer, no mark, nothing.
I will not use your name or your business anywhere unless you tell me it is fine.

Five questions. I read every one of these myself, and I will come back to you either way.
