How I work
How a website gets built
From your first message to the day your website goes live, and what I need from you along the way.
How it works
Your website is ready in 5 to 10 working days, counted from when I have your deposit and everything I need from you.
We talk, and you decide
Tell me what your business does. I tell you which of the four fits, what it costs and when I can start. There’s no charge and no commitment.
You pay half, and I get to know your business
Once the deposit is in, we talk properly on WhatsApp or a call: your customers, the work you want more of, and what your website has to bring in. You send me your photos and details.
I build it, and you check it
I write the words and build your website, and you see it before anyone else does. You tell me what to change, and two rounds of changes are included.
It goes live
Once you’re happy, your website goes live and you pay the second half. I show you how to update it yourself.
What I need from you
- Your logo, if you have one. If you don’t, I can design one for R2,450, paid up front.
- Photographs of your work, your products or your premises.
- Your prices, or how your charging works, if you want them on the website.
- Your opening hours, the areas you cover, and the details you want people to contact you on.
- An hour or so of your time to correct the words I write.
If something on that list doesn’t exist yet, say so at the start and we work around it. It doesn’t hold the job up.
How long it takes
Five to ten working days, counted from when I have your deposit and everything on the list above. If your business needs something unusual, I tell you how long it will take before you pay anything.
Paying
Half to start and half when your website goes live. I send an invoice for both, and payment is by EFT.
You pay the price of the website you chose, and nothing is added to it. The only other money involved is your web address at about R150 a year, a mailbox if you want email on your own address, and the Care Plan if you keep it after the first three months.
Changes
Two rounds of changes are included, and you see your website working before you pay the second half.
After that, changes are R450 an hour, and I tell you what something will cost before I start it.
Once it’s live
I show you how to make the changes you’re most likely to want: a new photograph, a price, a new service. We do it on a call you can record and come back to.
Your website is yours either way. If you keep the Care Plan after the free three months, I keep it online, backed up and up to date, and you get an hour of changes a month.
Questions about the build
Questions people ask before they decide. If yours isn’t here, ask me on WhatsApp.
- Who decides how it looks?
- You tell me about your business and what you want your website to do. I look after the rest: the words, the way it looks, how the menu works on a phone, and how Google reads it. You see it working before it goes live and tell me what to change.
- How many changes can I ask for?
- Two rounds of changes are included. After that it’s R450 an hour, and I’ll tell you what it will cost before I start.
- What if I don’t like it?
- Then I change it. Two rounds of changes are included, and you see your website working before you pay the second half. Any changes after that are R450 an hour, and I’ll tell you the cost before I start.
- Do you build with WordPress or Wix?
- I write every website from the ground up for the business it belongs to. That’s why they load quickly on a phone, and why there’s less on them that can go wrong or be broken into. If a website builder would suit you better, my guide on Wix and Squarespace says when.
