Where I build
Websites for small businesses in Cape Town
A city where half the businesses have a busy season and a quiet one, and the website has to know the difference.
Guest houses, restaurants, tour operators, photographers, anybody who works weddings: in Cape Town the price in December is not the price in June, and the availability is not the same either. A website that ignores that causes an argument at the counter.
The other thing this city does more than the rest is send customers via somebody else — a booking portal, a marketplace, an agent. Your own website is where a person checks you are real before they commit, and where the booking comes direct if it comes direct at all.
What a website here tends to need
- Rates that say plainly that they change by season, so nobody arrives expecting a June price
- A way to book or enquire direct that is easier than going back to the portal
- Photographs that look like the actual place, not like the brochure everyone else uses
- The practical things a visitor needs: parking, directions, what is nearby, how to find you after dark

Where I am
I am in Pretoria and the whole job happens on WhatsApp and phone calls. Distance has never changed what a website costs or how long it takes.
