Registered electrical contractor

Lights back on today.

I am one electrician. I answer my own phone. You get a price before I start and the invoice matches it.

Work I do

Houses and small commercial. If it is on this list, phone me.

  1. Fault finding

Earth leakage tripping. Dead plugs. Lights flickering. I find the fault and repair it.

    R650 first hour

I start at the board and work outwards with a clamp meter and an insulation tester. Most faults are found inside the first hour. If it runs longer I phone you before the hour is up and tell you what I have found and what it will cost to finish.

  2. Distribution boards

Replacements, upgrades and rewires. Every circuit labelled.

    R4,800 to R12,000

A new board, earth leakage, surge protection, and every circuit on its own labelled breaker. The price moves with the number of circuits and whether the house needs rewiring behind the board. You get the figure before I order anything.

  3. Certificates of Compliance

Inspection, a list of what must be fixed, a price, then the certificate.

    R1,250 inspection

Required when a property is sold, and valid for two years. I inspect, then send a written list of what does not comply with a price against each item. You decide what to do. The certificate is issued once the list is cleared.

  4. Plugs and lights

Extra plug points. Outside lights. LED changeovers. Geyser isolators.

    From R450 a point

Chased into the wall and plastered, or surface trunking if you would rather not open walls. Outside work goes into weatherproof housings. I take the old fittings away with me.

  5. Inverters and batteries

Installed on a separate essentials board. Wired to spec.

    R9,500 install

The essentials go onto their own board, so the inverter is never asked to carry the geyser or the stove. Installation only: you buy the inverter and the batteries yourself, which is cheaper than buying them through me.

  6. Shops and offices

Small commercial work. After hours if you cannot close.

    Quoted per job

Shopfitting, lighting changes, extra circuits for equipment. I work after closing if the shop cannot lose a trading day, at no extra rate on weekdays.

How I work

  • I look at the job first. Quotes are not guesses.
  • The price I give you is the price on the invoice.
  • I arrive when I said I would, or I phone before I am late.
  • Every board I touch gets labelled and left clean.
  • Twenty-two years. Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour.

Most jobs are finished the day I arrive, because the parts are already with me. This is the standing load.

What a Certificate of Compliance looks like

You need one when you sell. It is a legal document with my registration number on it, not a receipt, and if it is wrong it is my problem rather than yours.

  • Valid two years from the date of issue.
  • Lodged against my registration, not against the property.
  • Issued once every item on the list is cleared.
